The template letters below are for advisers to use when making applications or appealing negative decisions for asylum support.
The standardised templates can be freely downloaded and reproduced without authorisation from ASAP.
We strongly suggest that these letters are not sent without obtaining independent legal advice on your personal circumstances. Please speak to a registered immigration advisor or call our Advice Line, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 – 4pm on 020 7729 3042.
Community care: requesting an assessment
If your client is applying for Community Care support under Section 21 of the National Assistance Act (1948) because they are destitute and in need of care and attention, you can use this standard letter as a template to request an assessment from social services. Download the Template.
Medical Opinion: ‘Unable to Travel’.
If your client is applying for Section 4 support on the grounds that s/he is ‘unable to travel’ to his or her country or origin due to a physical impediment, or for some other reason, you may need to get confirmation from a medical professional. This letter template can be sent to your client’s doctor or other medical professional. Download the Template.
