Training

“Very informative. Very practical. Very interesting.”
- feedback from a training participant in January 2009

ASAP offers training on all aspects of asylum support (NASS/UKBA support) including asylum support appeals (NASS appeals) so that other advisors can also prevent asylum seekers from becoming destitute. Our training is available to voluntary sector advice agencies and refugee community organisations who are advising asylum seekers on asylum support related issues.

For a list of organisations who attended ASAP's training in 2008/9, please click here.

The training sessions we offer range from a basic introduction to asylum support, right through to more complex training on issues such as how to conduct an appeal at the First-tier Tribunal (Asylum Support) (TAS). These are appeals against UKBA decisions to either remove housing and welfare support when someone is an asylum seeker or a refused asylum seeker, or to refuse them support when they first apply. This includes section 4 support.

"It was really useful training. Many people will now benefit from being able to access support and information"
