Representation

There is no legal aid funding in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for representation at an asylum support appeal. Appellants living in these areas generally have to attend their oral hearings with no legal representative.

In August 2021 the Scottish Legal Aid Board agreed that legal representation before the Asylum Support Tribunal would be covered by Scottish legal aid for appellants living in Scotland. You can find a list of local Scottish legal aid firms here: https://www.slab.org.uk/new-to-legal-aid/find-a-solicitor/

Our Duty Scheme provides asylum seekers from all parts of the UK with free legal representation and advice at the First-tier Tribunal (Asylum Support).

If you are advising a client with an appeal hearing at the Tribunal, we might be able to represent them for free. We accept referrals from all over the UK.  Make a referral
