We’re really pleased to share news about ASAP’s updated resource: Asylum Support Appeal Form Online Helper. The updated version of the helper now supports people through the entire asylum support appeal form.
The Online Helper is an interactive, fully translatable, tool that guides users step by step through the Asylum Support Appeal Form. It explains what each question is asking, why the information is important, and places users answers into the right place on the form. Along the way, it checks that people are in the right place and signposts them to further information if they need a different type of appeal or are missing key documents.
Users can type their answers directly into the helper and download a completed appeal form at the end, which is ready to email to the Asylum Support Tribunal.
It’s important to note that the Online Helper does not submit the appeal to the Tribunal. Users still need to email their completed form to asylumsupp...@justice.gov.uk for their appeal to be considered. The helper explains how to do this and also shows users how to review or change their answers if they realise something is missing or needs updating.
You can find out more information and view the online helper here on ASAP’s website.

Do you help asylum seekers apply for Section 95 and Section 4 support? Would you like to better understand how income effects asylum support?
ASAP’s next online training looks at the effect that income has on asylum support, and crucially the Home Office’s approach to assessing destitution in these cases. Please note that the HO has little guidance on how they calculate destitution when a person has an income. Therefore, what is covered in this training is based on ASAP’s interpretation of what we think should happen, and real-life case examples.
This session will cover:
This training is suitable for those who have a good knowledge of the asylum support system and assist in making asylum support applications. This training will not be appropriate for those who are new to giving advice on asylum support.
It is a 2.5 hour session from 10am to 12:30pm on Tuesday the 19th of May and will be hosted on Zoom. If you would like to attend this session, please register your interest by Tuesday the 12th of May. Please note the session will be limited to 50 places, and places will be allocated on the basis of the registrant’s appropriateness for the training. If oversubscribed places will be limited to 2 per organisation.
