Beginners course


Introduction to Asylum Support for Beginners

This training provides an overview of the asylum support system. Participants should be from organisations that work directly with asylum seekers but are not expected to have an in-depth knowledge of the asylum support system. After this training, participants should be able to identify the type of support a client could access and what type of evidence they need to support this application.

 

Intermediate course


Asylum support for advisers

Tips and advice on completing ASF1, best practice, and identify the best evidence to support it. This training is those who have a working knowledge of the asylum support system who what to improve this knowledge so that they can assist clients with successful applications for support. The training will also cover the appeals process. Training will increase confidence in using the legislation, key cases and Home Office asylum support policies. 

Advanced courses


Asylum support appeals 

This training provides an overview of the asylum support appeals process. It is a top up session for those who have a good knowledge of the asylum support system. This session will not provide an overview of asylum support. Advisers are expected to have a working knowledge of asylum support application process. After this training, participants should be able help clients submit an appeal and be confident in using policy and legislation to appeal negative Home Office decisions.

Further Submissions, JR and Asylum Support

This training is a top up session for those who have a good knowledge of the asylum support system. This session should increase your understanding of the basis of reg 3(2)(e), the relevant case law and Home Office policies.  It aims to improve your knowledge of what happens in practise at the AST so that you can better assist your clients with applications and appeals

Destitution Test

This training is a top up session for those who have a good knowledge of the asylum support system. It examines in detail definition of destitution that is relevant to asylum support applications. It examines the difference between S98 and S95 applications and what evidence to provide.
